Amazing and a little Silly

Erik came out of the bathroom like this the other day. We had a good laugh and I just HAD to grab the camera. A few days later he did it again and said, "mommy go get the camera"
Apparently he likes his underware on his head and he must love the lime light I guess, silly kid.
I think I was doing my hair while Erik did this amazing, well to me, thing.
He took the pieces and pies from Trivial Pursuit....

And sorted them into THIS!

Can you believe it?!
1. He sorted them all by color
2. he had the patience and dexterity to place all the pieces in the corresponding pies.
3. He did it ALL BY HIMSELF
4. oh and he's only 2 1/2
This kid amazes me everyday!
At the Library this week a Librarian asked him his name and he spelled it for her instead of just saying 'Erik'

I know I'm bragging a lot, but that's a parent's job right?
Another silly one.
We were pretending that the playdough shapes were stickers.

Gone Camping

We LOVE camping and we've gone a few times as a family this year, but this was the first trip where we remembered to bring our camera.
The Joys of camping for our family are:
1. the CAMPFIRE

Erik likes to see the fire "grow up" as he says and we love to cook foil dinners in the fire and of course roast marshmallows for....
2. SMORES

Can you see the enjoyment in Pawly's face? That was a good smore! He and Erik got a little wild with the water bottle-to explain the wet stains on his shirt.

3. the TENT
Erik LOVES playing in the tent!!! In fact the first time he went camping he spent 2 hours just playing in the tent.
4. FLASH LIGHT WARS!
In the tent, in the dark of the night, we have flash light wars. You're sure to hear some good sound effects, like "zoom, zoom and peuw peuw" as the lights collide on the walls and celing of the tent. It's good fun!

5. THE STARS
of course we don't have pictures of the stars, but that sure is MY favorite part of camping. We could see the milky way really well and thousands more stars than you never see in the city,
it's amazing!

6. PLAYING IN THE DIRT AND WATER
We were by a shallow part of a river and Erik enjoyed throwing rocks into the water. It was pretty chilly so I wasn't surprised that he didn't get all wet when we put his swim suit on.
Here he is figuring out the mechanics of this chair, I really do think Erik has an engineering mind, he LOVES seeing how things work, it's so fun to watch.

7. THE FOREST
This was a beautiful area! I loved how wooded it was.
It's so nice to sit by a campfire and sing songs, talk, listen to the river flowing, and watch the stars. I'm grateful for Heavenly Father's beautiful creations that are all around us.
His creations truly testify of Him.

Oh the fun doesn't end when you get home. Erik decided to entertain us by contorting himself into the legs of the chair. I thought he'd be stuck, but he wiggled his way out really easily to come to me to see his picture on the camera.

Can you guess which shoes Erik has worn the most outside this summer?
No his flip flops are not on in this picture, but his tan line is pretty drastic huh.

A 'No Nap' Afternoon

One afternoon Erik decided to play in his room for an hour and a half instead of napping. I started freaking out, 'why isn't he sleeping? what if he's phasing out of naps?' The positive part of this "nap time" was that he did spend all that time quietly in his room, so I calmed myself that IF he was phasing out of a nap at least I could negotiate an hour of "quite time" and still keep my sanity. So I let him out of his room and we went to the water park to have some fun!
Erik LOVES playing at this "water park"(splash pad). He's moved on from the small kid fountains to the big kid attractions. Like the circular water spouts.

And the HUGE puddle that builds near the drain, that's a big kid favorite.
This is Erik's "cheese" face. He now notices the camera enough to say cheese w/o being prompted. :)

Time for some playground fun. He was driving the boats here.

Another Cheese grin.
After we left the park, guess what Erik did?
FELL ASLEEP IN THE CAR!!
The little turkey got all worn out at the park that he fell, HARD, asleep. He was holding a water bottle in his lap when he fell asleep and the water tipped over and splashed on him as I turned a corner, he didn't even flinch, out cold.
I'm happy to report that Erik has taken very good naps since this incident and that my sanity is secured. All is well :)
